Dominican Republic is the twenty-fifth country I visited. Planning for the vacation started as an all-guys trip to a Caribbean beach to celebrate our 40th birthdays, but when I started doing some research on Dominican Republic, I was utterly shocked to read that this was the country that Christopher Columbus had visited on every single one of his four voyages. This country has a lot of firsts—first cathedral, first university, first castle, first monastery and first fortress in the New World.
