Bergen is 120 miles southwest of Balestrand, and the drive takes you through beautiful valleys, lush green fields, stave churches and stunning waterfalls. The city is best known for Bryggen (Wharf)—an UNESCO World Heritage Site—that is lined with a series of colorful Hanseatic commercial buildings. We took the Fløibanen, a funicular to the top of Mt. Fløyen, to get an amazing view of the city with the Byfjorden fjord in the background. We spent most of our time wandering, window shopping and people watching in the main square called Torgallmenningen.
